Who are we?
The Association of Veterinary Public Health and Animal Welfare is a non-profit voluntary organisation founded in January 2019.
We are a constituent member of The World Veterinary Association.
Established to converge veterinarians and related professionals working in the public sector, the academia, the industry, and the research community, we are dedicated to champion the advancement of veterinary medicine, public health, One Health, disease prevention and control, as well as animal welfare in Hong Kong and beyond.
Applying our professional expertise in veterinary public health and animal welfare, we strive to make a difference to the society by:
Bringing together public health professionals in the scopes of animal, human, food and environment
Advocating the value of veterinarians in public health
Establishing a One Health platform for veterinary professionals, academics, legal advisors and officers of the law
Developing a discussion forum to promote the science of veterinary public health andanimal welfare, veterinary epidemiology of infectious diseases, and veterinary preventive medicine
Hosting informative educational workshops and seminars on veterinary public health
Fostering the communication, cooperation, and collaboration amongst all veterinarian public health and related professionals
Driving changes in public health and related policies to improve animal health, disease prevention and control, and animal welfare
